Room air and Process
air technology

Galaxy Tower, Vienna

Assignment
Highest possible flexibility of the available office space was required for the Galaxy Tower office building in Vienna. We choose induction units and linear diffusers. The same unit shall be used for air conditioning and fresh air supply of both individual offices and large-surface offices with an increased room depth. On behalf of Commerz Grundbesitz Investmentgesellschaft mbH we were to optimize the ventilation system to meet these specific requirements. Criteria: Ensure the required cooling power and minimum air exchange rate for both the individual and the large-surface office while meeting ÖNORM H 6000 thermal comfort requirements.

Solution
For testing, a single-axle room of 2.4 m, a height of 2.85 m and different room depths was rebuilt in the LTG Room Flow Lab at a 1:1 scale.
The induction unit was installed in a ceiling coffer, located on the corridor wall of the individual room and in the center of the large-surface office, respectively. Through air flow optimization it was ensured that for both room types thermal comfort may be guaranteed at the workplaces for an unchanged unit position and with flexible primary air flow and cooling capacity.

Advantage
The result is a system that ensures thermal comfort at the workplaces while providing high flexibility with view to the room size.
